MFE Accepted For Presentation
Micro-Follicular Enumeration, or MFE, has been accepted by the International Society of Hair Replacement Sugeons ( ISHRS ) for presentation at it's annual meeting in September |
What Is It?
MFE is a method developed by John Ranney of Freedom Hair Systems of accurately measuring donor hair available for hair transplantation. Microscopic pictures of the prospective patient's donor are are taken and the number of hairs and hair follicles are enumerated.
The resulting numbers are entered into a spreadsheet which then calculates the total donor hairs and follicles available for transplantation. |
Benefits
Current methods of establishing donor area are approximations at best, and many consultants and doctors providing hair transplants avoid providing accurate assessments of donor areas. There are a couple of reasons for this: the first is that they have no way of doing it. The second is that they do not always want the patient to know how much hair they are transplanting, because this allows the patient to shop around for the best value.
MFE addresses both of these major issues and benefits both patients and doctors. It provides the doctor an extra tool for surgical planning, while patients will know once and for all just how much hair they are getting, and will better understand the possibilities and outcome of their transplants. Acceptance for presentation by the ISHRS at the annual meeting paves the way for MFE to become standard industry practice in the years to come.
